Judging gets underway for Cherwell Business Awards 2026

The Cherwell Business Awards 2026 have now moved into the judging stage, as this year’s entries begin the next step on the road to the finals.

The awards celebrate the businesses, organisations and individuals helping Cherwell to thrive, from new and growing firms to established employers, community organisations and apprentices making a difference in their workplace, and includes nine categories, with the Overall Cherwell Winner chosen from the finalists across those categories.

Entries are first reviewed by independent judges linked to each category sponsor, helping to make sure applications are considered carefully and consistently. Shortlisted businesses may then be invited to take part in follow-up discussions before a final judging meeting brings sponsors and judges together to agree this year’s finalists.

This process is designed to ensure that every application gets fair consideration and that the finalists reflect the very best of Cherwell’s business community. It also helps shine a light on the innovation, resilience and community contribution shown by organisations across the district.
Now in its fourteenth year, the awards continue to highlight the innovation, resilience and contribution of businesses across the district, recognising excellence at every stage of growth.

Councillor Lesley McLean, Leader of Cherwell District Council, said:

“The Cherwell Business Awards shine a spotlight on the talent, innovation and resilience of businesses across our district. As judging begins, I want to thank all those who have entered and wish them every success in the next stage of the competition.”

Winners will be announced at the Cherwell Business Awards Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at The Chesterton Hotel on Friday 18 September 2026, when the district’s business community will come together to celebrate this year’s success stories.
